Organisation : Departments, positions, and who answers to whom.
The organisation chart is a service of its own: departments, positions and the people who hold them, with dates. One rule says who answers to whom - and every app, form, process and agent asks that rule instead of keeping a copy.
What it does
Organisation, point by point.
One rule for "their manager"
A manager named by hand, else the seat a position reports to, else the head of the department, else the head above. Vacant seats are passed through. Everything on the platform uses this one answer.
Positions, not only people
People hold positions for a time. Give access to a position, and whoever holds it tomorrow has it.
Fields of your own
Add what your organisation records about a department, a position or a person.
An API others can ask
Other applications ask who someone is, who they answer to, their chain and their reports - as a signed-in person, with a token from your identity provider, or with a key.
Shares
Publish part of the chart - a department and what is under it, as structure only, with holders, or with contact details - to a partner or to the public.
Fed by your directory
People and groups come from your directory through the identity provider; the chart can be imported from a file.
Getting started
Three steps in.
- Open the Organisation Center.
- Add departments and their heads, then positions.
- Put people in positions - with a start date, and an end date when one is known.
Questions
What people ask about Organisation.
Does it replace our HR system?
No. It is the place the platform - and any application you point at it - asks about structure. Where the facts come from is yours to decide.
What happens when a head leaves?
The seat is vacant and the rule passes through it to the head above, until someone holds it again.
